ACPA President, Russell Tripp, P.E. comments on experiential learning and the role of concrete pipe plants in that learning model. Tripp notes that the editorial in the CPI 5-2017 (October) Issue described how concrete pipe producers are accommodating a need for educating specifiers, design engineers, regulators, elected representatives, contractors, and the public about the applied science of buried rigid and flexible pipelines and culverts.  The way that industry is preparing for its future is through experiential learning.

This is a demonstration of the comparative flammability of polypropylene pipe (PP), reinforced concrete pipe (RCP), and high density polyethylene pipe (HDPE). Dry hay is ignited in three 18 in. by 18 in. pipes and allowed to burn. This is an unedited test conducted on October 21, 2015.
