The American Concrete Pipe Association recently completed a series of three full training days across Montana.  The training took place in Helena, Bozeman, and Billings during the first week of June.  Trygve Hoff and Woody Rigdon, the West Region and Central Region Engineers, spoke on a range of topics including Pipe Design, Installation, Inspection and Box Culverts.  The training was organized by local member, Forterra, and was successfully attended by consultants, municipal, county, state  and Bureau of Indian Affairs engineers.  Unique to the training was a social hour at the end of the day in which attendees could relax and network while discussing the day’s courses.  Initially, the training was planned to be ala carte so that engineers could come and go as they pleased to hear the topics that they were most interested in; however, most attendees stayed for the full day of training.

This is a demonstration of the comparative flammability of polypropylene pipe (PP), reinforced concrete pipe (RCP), and high density polyethylene pipe (HDPE). Dry hay is ignited in three 18 in. by 18 in. pipes and allowed to burn. This is an unedited test conducted on October 21, 2015.
